Ok everyone - it's me, "JohnBoy" from the original OGR Forum. Letting go of some of my O-gauge trains these days, take advantage!
As with all my listings, you have my word that I will stand behind these descriptions and if you're not happy with a sale, let me know and I promise to work it out with you. Being as transparent as I can with these items, and their condition, etc.
I have been in O-gauge since I was very young, and have always taken excellent care of my trains. So although most of these items have been used, they are in excellent condition (except where otherwise noted).
Next one up:
6-31714: Lionel Acela, original run, 2005, Orig. MSRP: $1999.99 3-car, 2-engine sets. I have TWO of these. Yes that's TWO 5-piece full original sets.
6-15584: Lionel Acela, original run, 2006, Orig. MSRP: $749.99 3-car add-on set. I have ONE of these.
This one has a long and unfortunate story. These original Acela sets were notoriously unreliable, and mine experienced exactly that. Out of these two 5-piece sets, at least two cars would not function properly despite multiple trips back to Lionel. One of them, the truck fell apart. I have all the parts in a zip-loc bag for it, but it will take professional service to re-assemble, and then I'm not sure how well these will run.
The sets ran well enough, sounded great, and looked fantastic. As a scale model, these sets are sensational. But as expected, the more sophisticated features were where the trouble occurred: auto-opening passenger car doors, tilt mechanism, and operating pantographs would sometimes not work, or would work intermittently.
At the end of at least two years of fussing, and multiple returns to Lionel, I got at least one full set operational on my layout. The last time these were run was probably more than 10 years ago.
So these items are likely going to need some work to get them up to perfect running condition.
All original boxes, bags, and also outer cartons.
This one is a very odd listing, so I am at this stage just testing the waters, entertaining offers. Really trying to sell them all as one sale, because I honestly couldn't tell you which ones work and which ones don't, and since I took the trouble to box them, I'm hoping to not have to open them back up. So I'm trying to see if there's someone who is willing buy all three of these, or at least the two 5-piece full sets, and work through them to see what works and what doesn't, and then proceed to repair them yourself or with a specialist. So consider that when making any offers.
