The ashpit at Mattbury Yard on the Munoz Lines is a very busy place. Here New York Central E-6 #827 is getting its fire cleaned by some hard working pit crew members. It's a dirty job and these guys do it well !!

First Class job Elliot. My Pit is much more modest---patterned after an old 12x12 1890s--1949 Atlantic & Yadkin ground level ash drop.
Now, did you weld the "track rods" in between the rails to maintain gauge where you gutted the ties for ash drop clearance? A certain New Jersey lawyer will probably inspect for compliance.
