My dream layout began in 2005, I live in Scranton Pa which was home to the DL&W but the Erie, CNJ, D&H and NYO&W all had stations in the city. So the layout is based on the area and influenced by them. I am modeling the time right after the Erie and the DL&W merged, when a variety of paint schemes intertwined on freight and passenger trains.
The D&H and NYO&W interchange and are granted trackage rights from time to time.
A Brewery, Cabinet factory,lumber mill and a scrap yard all have sidings.
There is a engine facility with a turntable and a classification yard.

MTH DCS controls the system and a z-4000 with a lionel kw power track

the layout has three loops in a dogbone style, there is a hidden track that allows all levels to be connected so that trains from the yard can be taken to the upper main line.

I am by no means an expert at building this, I am learning all the time, and just trying to make a layout I can enjoy and that my son and daughter can enjoy as well.

This is the yard area it has an arrival and departure track with switches to the caboose track and a siding for the long F3 set also the switch to access the 5 storage tracks. Foam core is laid under and black beauty is glued in place to give the appearance of cinders. A storage track for MOW and spot lights complete the base of this scene 2010

Nearly done, I can now store my rolling stock and run trains! the Lackawanna switcher moves cars while the RS-3 idles. both are custom painted MTH models. The "concrete" wall hides the hidden tracks 2011

This is the brewery ( unnamed for know until I can think of a witty one) It is served by a spur off the main line. It has two sidings, one for the loading docks on the building and the other to the detached docks. This point shows the progress before scenery was applied.You can see in this view the hidden tracks.

Thanks John.. I do too! I am giving it my best... trying to keep it cheap and easy..although I did pay 25 dollars for 5 hobos for my hobo town.. more shots to come.... this is only half of the layout

After much work at this stage has the upper level which will be the location of the city, the other dogbone loop descends to the hidden track. You can see the location of the station and supporting tracks. The third track is a connecting track that will connect to the lower section and so that trains can move to the yard and engine service area. This track has a sharp incline and curves to make the connection, this is a challenge and usually needs helpers to get cars up the grade. It allows all sections to interconnect

Progress of the rock wall made from foam insulation and spackle..the lower loop is the third loop on the layout. 2011
