I got tired of looking in the windshield and seeing the can motors inside my Williams/Bachmann EP5 locomotive. Since I'm lazy and fortunate enough to do representational modeling rather than model realistically, I came up with the following fast and easy method of installing an engineer and fireman. It is completely reversible.

Before:





Remove the locomotive body and cut a piece of black foamboard ever so slightly larger than the cab width. Stick the figures to it with double-stick tape:





Press fit the foamboard directly behind the cab windows casting. If it's a little loose you can use masking tape on the sides to make it fit more securely:





Re-install the body on the chassis and it's done!
