Foam it.
Plaster cloth & added texture.
Add ground foam & plant trees.

That's a great scene for a show and tell! Great use of the space. I am surprised that you didn't protect the track, I would have really messed that up.

Your photos show an excellent and clever use of "dead" space, and even more impressive that the finished scene took only an hour.
